Hands up, who here loves a delicious cocktail? Did you know that cocktails were originally made back when pubs/ saloons ran out or were too low of certain beverages and created mixtures known today as Cocktails. Interestingly, cocktails have done so well in marketing that nowadays, they are one of the highest priced alcoholic beverages. Applause for pubs/ saloons for sustainable choices, by not throwing out the dregs of alcohol.
The word cocktailing is being used in beauty products/ fake tanning industry as a form of mixing fake tanning lotions (from the same manufacturing brand companies or combining different manufacturing brand companies) to achieve an amiable appearance and/or tactile feel, for both technician and end user (customer).
It is interesting to note that in order to become a spray technician in Australia, there is no legal, formal standards required for a technician to be ‘qualified.’ However, there are experienced technicians out there, that have been doing spray tans before the dawn of time, but majority (and I would confidently suggest 99.9%) have not enrolled in a formulation/ manufacturing course nor completed a Safety Data workshop to know which fake tanning ingredients are compatible to cocktail together, to then apply onto the skin.
DHA is classified as a non-hazardous substance or mixture, according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. This substance is not classified as dangerous according to Directive 67/548/EEC. 2.2 Label elements……And so too are all the wonderful, additional ingredients within our Sundance Designer Tan fake tanning lotions, to create the perfect fake tan for our clients.

The issue with cocktailing from brand/brand or not brand/brand fake tanning lotions is the fundamental scientific knowledge, to know if these ingredients are compatible to be applied onto the skin. From a manufacturing/ formulation point of view, I would highly recommend never to cocktail fake tanning lotions regardless if the fake tanning solution is brand/brand or not brand/brand, unless you get written confirmation from the manufacturer that this is safe to do so.
